📸

1. Plant Identification

How do I get the most accurate result?

Point the camera at a single plant and fill most of the frame. A clear close-up of a leaf or flower usually beats a photo of the whole garden.

Why did Leafa name the wrong plant?

Blurry, dark, or very distant photos give the AI little to work with, and several species can look nearly identical. Try another angle, better light, or a close-up of a distinctive part.

Please read
Identification and toxicity information are generated by AI and can be wrong. Never rely on Leafa alone to decide whether a plant is safe to eat, or safe around children and pets — confirm with a qualified expert first.

2. Disease & Health Scanning

How do I check a sick plant?

Photograph the affected part itself — the spotted leaf, the wilting stem — rather than the whole plant, so the problem is clearly visible in the frame.

Where do I find treatment advice?

Open any plant and switch to the Common Issues tab to read the problems that typically affect that species, then tap one for the full detail.

Good to know
A health scan is a helpful starting point, not a professional diagnosis. For a valuable or badly affected plant, please consult a local nursery or plant specialist.

3. Care Reminders & Notifications

How do I set a reminder?

Reminders live inside a plant's care detail screen. Open the plant, choose the care task you want to be reminded about, and add a schedule — Daily, a repeating Interval, or Monthly.

I'm not getting any reminders

If the app shows Notifications Off, permission is turned off at the system level. Re-enable it:

  1. Open the iOS Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap Leafa.
  3. Tap Notifications and turn on Allow Notifications.
  4. Reopen Leafa — your existing schedules stay intact.

Do reminders need internet?

No. Reminders are scheduled on your device and fire even when you're offline.

4. My Garden & Light Meter

How do I save a plant?

After an identification, add the plant to My Garden. You can note where it lives, so it's easy to tell two similar plants apart later.

What does the Light Meter do?

It measures how bright a spot actually is, so you can compare it against what a plant needs and find the right place for it before you commit.

Will I lose my garden if I delete the app?

Yes. Your garden is stored on your device, so deleting the app removes it. Please keep photos of anything you'd like to hold on to.

💳

5. Premium, Free Trial & Billing

What does Premium include?

Premium removes ads and unlocks unlimited plant ID and disease diagnosis. There's a 3-day free trial, and you can cancel any time before the trial ends or before it renews.

I paid before — how do I restore it?

Purchases are tied to your store account, so a new phone doesn't mean paying twice:

  1. Open Settings in Leafa.
  2. Tap Upgrade to Premium.
  3. Tap Restore Purchase and wait for the confirmation.

Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you originally bought it with — that's the most common reason a restore comes back empty.

How do I cancel or ask for a refund?

Subscriptions are billed by Apple, not by us, so they're managed in your device's Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com.

6. App Settings

Can I change the language?

Yes — open Settings in Leafa and tap Language. The app switches straight away, no restart needed.

Where are the legal documents?

The Privacy Policy and Terms of Use are linked in Settings, and at the bottom of this page.

7. Troubleshooting

Identification fails or times out

Identifying a plant needs an internet connection, because the photo is analysed on our servers. Check your connection and try once more.

The camera shows a black screen

Leafa needs camera permission to scan. Open the iOS Settings app, tap Leafa, and turn Camera on.

The app crashes or behaves oddly

Please update to the latest version from the App Store first — most issues are already fixed there. If it persists, email us and mention your device model and iOS version.

Reporting a bug
The more detail the better: what you tapped, what you expected, and what happened instead. A screenshot or screen recording helps us fix it much faster.
